Eagles interested in Samuel?

Awwww, The NFL off-season! It's chalk full of rumors, speculation, and what have you... Could the Eagles be looking to draw Samuel aways from the Patriots? There have been reports that the Eagles have given Lito Sheppard permission so work out a trade. If Sheppard to leave town it would certainly make way for such a move. Both, Samuel and Sheppard have similar NFL careers.

Lito Sheppard:
Age: 25
6 Years of NFL experience.
226 career tackles, 201 of them are solo.
2 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 17 interceptions.
Signed a 5 year extension in 2004.

Asante Samuel
Age: 25
5 years of NFL experience.
235 career tackles, 210 of them are solo.
No sacks, 4 forced fumbles, and 22 interceptions.

The numbers are pretty close, and both are Pro Bowl defensive backs. I would stick with Lito Sheppard. Asante Samuel would be a great acquisition, but the Eagles would have to show him the money, and Sheppard is already locked up. The numbers are too close to make a decision based solely on them alone. The injury bug is an issue, but Lito has the off-season to recover, and then get ready for next season. The Eagles can look to strengthen their secondary in the draft.
