I feel that this picture really ties this whole thing together nicely. Today is the first day of free agency, and there has been quite a bit going on.
Jevon Kearse, You can leave your playbook on coach Johnson's desk. Not that my opinion matters, but I think that it was a good time for the Eagles to make this move. His sack numbers have been on the decline, and so has his playing time. The Eagles are loaded at defensive end with 6 holding spots on the roster. He has had injury problems that have also limited his playing time. I would have preferred to see Jerome McDougle released before Kearse, but I am not calling the shots. However I am sure that there is still a market out there for Jevon. Perhaps a team that implements a 3-4 defense could use him a pass rushing linebacker. Goodluck Big Guy!

Asante Samuel is reportedly being offered a deal, and is visiting with the team today. Does this mean that Lito has been given permission to seek a trade, or are the Eagles going to use him to acquire another piece of the Super Bowl puzzle? I hope that the Eagles would use him to go after a #1 receiver. Perhaps, a Larry Fitzgerald, Chad Johnson, or Randy Moss.....

Gilbril Wilson is another possible free agent acquisition on this first day of free agency. Would the Eagles sign Wilson to play along side Brian Dawkins, or to be his replacement?

Chris Clemens???? Who is this guy? The Eagles may be in the process of acquiring the 26 year defensive end from the Raiders. His numbers are good, but we already have six on the roster.

The rumor mill is filled to the hilt with possibilities. These are just a few that I thought were interesting.

Eagles interested in Samuel?

Awwww, The NFL off-season! It's chalk full of rumors, speculation, and what have you... Could the Eagles be looking to draw Samuel aways from the Patriots? There have been reports that the Eagles have given Lito Sheppard permission so work out a trade. If Sheppard to leave town it would certainly make way for such a move. Both, Samuel and Sheppard have similar NFL careers.

Signed a 5 year extension in 2004.

The numbers are pretty close, and both are Pro Bowl defensive backs. I would stick with Lito Sheppard. Asante Samuel would be a great acquisition, but the Eagles would have to show him the money,and Sheppard is already locked up. The numbers are too close to make a decision based solely on them alone. The injury bug is an issue, but Lito has the off-season to recover, and then get ready for next season. The Eagles can look to strengthen their secondary in the draft.

Ladies and Gentleman, Patriot Fans are at it again! Patriot fans just keep playing with gasoline soaked matches, and wonder why they keep getting burned. If you didn't view the aforementioned presentation, I would like for you to take a moment, and read this Ass Hats closing argument.

"Surely, the Giants played an incredible game. In most ways, I'd say that Coughlin & Co. outcoached and outplayed the Patriots throughout much of the game.

However, as this little photo essay demonstrates, the Giants failed to truly earn this victory - the stole it. Without that pass play, the Giants are facing 4th and 5 from their own 44, if the pass is incomplete, and deeper in their own end if Mannning is sacked - with just 0:59 left on the clock and one play and one timeout. If the penalty is called, it's 3rd and 20 from their own 29, or at least 3rd and 10 from their own 39.

If the officials call either of the facemasks or holding penalties, the Patriots end the season 19-0.

Now, Assume when I ask you a question that I already know the answer. Are you serious? Then go on to say that the Giants didn't earn it, but in fact they stole it. Your coach has been videotaping the opposition since 2000. When did the Patriots win their first Super Bowl of the Belichick regime? Ohhhhh, I don't know perhaps it was 2002. It's not really a stretch to say that the Patriots have stolen 3 Super Bowl championships!!!

He then proceeds to make his case that the Giants were cheating, and that the officials were colluding with them. He points out that there were several facemask penalties that took place in the last 1:15 of Super Bowl XLII. No, the missed calls did not change the outcome of the game. Plaxico Burress breaking the ankles of Randall Gay's ankles, and scoring the game winning touchdown changed the outcome. Facemask penalties or not, Jarvis Green, Richard Seymour, and Adelius Thomas all had their hands on Manning, but were unable to bring him down. What's that you say??? The reason they couldn't bring him down was that they were being grabbed by their facemask's. If I'm not mistaken, they all got to Eli amidst having their facemask's grabbed. They didn't bring him down, and he was able to complete the pass to David Tyree.

He is right about one thing. Aside from, "King Dick" coach Belichick, the did did handle the loss with dignity, and humility. There is a simple explanation for that. They got outplayed!!!! The New England defense is beginning to show their age. The offense managed a sorry 45 yards rushing, and offered Tom Brady up as a sacrifice 5 times. There is no reason praise the Patriots for not saying anything after the game. That is what they always do. Perhaps their fans should take a queue from their beloved team, and not complain about the game either.

The Patriots played a great game, and deserved to lose Super Bowl XLII. They were outcoached, outplayed, and their fans were outclassed!

I am not a lawyer, nor do I pretend to be anything of the sort. However, I would like to impart a nugget of legal advice to Mr. Brian McNamee..... Stick to your story! According to the deposition Brian McNamee gave during the Mitchell Report, he injected Roger Clemens with steroids and HGH approximately 16 - 21 times from 1998 - 2001. Then McNamee claims that he injected Roger's wife with steroids at his request. Then he has photos of used syringes, and empty beer cans that have Clemens' DNA. Today, Wednesday February 13, 2008 he claims that he actually administered steroids and HGH more than he originally reported. Roger Clemens doesn't need a team of lawyers to defend himself, and his wife. He's got Brian McNamee!

Brian McNamee seems to be a discrediting himself the longer this plays out. If you want people to believe what you say, your story should have consistency. Brian McNamee's story consistently changes. You gave deposition for the Mitchell Report. Why didn't you just give all of this stuff up then? why now?

I really don't see how implicating steroid use by Roger's wife is going to add credibility to his story. It makes you look like an idiot, and people are more inclined to discredit an idiot. As it stands that is speculation, and does nothing to corroborate your allegations that Roger Clemens used steroids.

Then there are the pictures of beer cans, and used needles. Why did you present pictures? Why not the actual syringes, and beer cans? Once again, you open your mouth . You kept the paraphernalia in case Roger Clemens were ever to deny using performance enhancing drugs. If you hadn't said anything, and turned over the evidence for testing this could be over an done with.

Then, before congress this morning you say, "I injected Clemens even more often". It doesn't take a genius to realize that you have now lied under oath. Either you lied to congress today or to George Mitchell.

Your defense team should have advised you to shut up. That is the best piece of legal advice that they could have given you.

If there's grass on the field...

You saw the Steelers vs. Dolphins Monday night game at Heinz Field. The skies opened up over Pittsburgh, and were relentless. What stands out in my mind from that game was when the ball was punted, and just sunk into the field. The ball was standing nearly upright.

During the pre-game it was reported that the grounds crew did not have enough time to replace the old field with the new one, so they laid it over top. The drainage was horrible, and the field looked like a flood plain. For the remainder of the season the field looked awful. Fred Taylor said something to the fact that it is a lawsuit waiting to happen, but that is how it will remain. The Steelers listen to their players, and the players say, "That's the way. uh huh uh huh, I like it!" They feel that natural grass reduces the chance of injury. The Steelers organization is not the only one who wants to keep the grass. The University of Pittsburgh prefers it too.

The University of Pittsburgh has a say in what type of surface is used at Heinz Field? They sure do... Heinz Field is where Pitt plays all of it's home games. Several High School games are played there as well. As a Big East conference school, I am sure that they could afford to build there own stadium. I think that they should too. Perhaps the Steelers should limit the amount of games that are played at Heinz Field. The Back Story

I just need to get an 85 on my Eagles Roster

I want Ocho Cinco (Chad Johnson)!!!! He's an amazing talent, and it is my belief that the Eagles need an All-Pro #1 receiver. Mr. Lurie, Coach Reid, do not let Daniel Snyder and the Redksins dominate the off-season free agent market.

The Eagles need a number one receiver, and Chad Johnson would be an ideal candidate to fill that role. He has the athletic ability to stretch the field. He can catch just about anything that is thrown at him. I know, I know, no one needs to point out that we went down that road with Owens, but you cannot argue with the numbers. The Eagles with Owens went to the Super Bowl. Donovan McNabb had a great season. He thew 31 touchdowns to just 8 interceptions. Owens' had caught 14 of those 31. Reggie Brown has not developed into that position, and I am not sure that he will (at least not as an Eagle). Kevin Curtis is great receiver, but not a #1.

Big Receivers make an even bigger impact. It's no secret. In what some would consider an off season, Johnson pulled in 93 receptions for 1440 yards (15.5 yards per catch) , and 8 touchdowns. So, I beg you Eagles player personnel, go out and get Johnson.

To the Chowder Heads who came up with this, and those who advocate it, I have one request... Re-enact the Boston Tea Party, and throw yourselves in!!!

You have got to be kidding... What possible vindication will you receive from this? No, Commissioner Goodell is not going to have the Giants, and Patriots replay the last 1:40 seconds of Super Bowl XLII. You Lost.... Accept it.... Take the advice of your beloved amoral coach, and move on! Focus on the next game. Roger Goodell already gave you the gift of destroying all the spygate tapes, and now you are asking for more? Boston has plenty of positives going for them as we speak.

1. The Boston Celtics are not the laughing stock of the NBA. They are 39-9, and quite possibly the next NBA champions.

2. The Boston Bruins are 55-28-22.

3. You need rest up. Baseball is vastly approaching. You will need all your strength to bitch and moan about the Yankees, and how much better you are.

The Line in the Sand

I am glad that the New England Patriots did not win Super Bowl XLII!!!!! I have a number of reasons for taking this stance. The Patriots are considered to be a dynasty. The Patriots are considered to be the model franchise in the NFL, but that is not the case at all. They are no better than any of the other 31 organizations in the NFL.

Bill Belichick, there is no argument that can be made against him being a football savant. However he appears to be void of conscience or sportsmanship. Belichick is a cheater! He has been warned by the league about video taping opponents prior to Spygate. Once the accusations by Jets had been confirmed, he appeared totally unapologetic. He claimed that he was within the constraints of rule based on his interpretation. He did not acknowledge that he got caught cheating. Now there are allegations that he video taped the pre-game walk through of the rams before they met in the Super Bowl. To go along with that Commissioner Goodell has a sworn affidavit from Belichick that he turned over all possible video evidence of misconduct to the league. It seems clear to me that he is of questionable principles, and that this new allegation is not a far stretch, and quite possibly true. With the Spygate chip on his shoulder he proceeded to destroy competition, which in itself is not a bad thing (I wish the Eagles could put up points like that). The issue is within running up the score. It's fourth down, you are in field goal range, up by an insurmountable lead, and you leave your offense on the field to go for it. Then you justify this action by saying that you'd rather go for it, and make them stop you, then kick the field goal. At this time I would like to point out that this man is calculating. This man ingeniously took a safety to get better field position to win a game. In the third quarter of the Patriots week nine game against the Colts he sent out Stephan Gostkowski to kick a 34 yard field goal. Why didn't he go for it then? Then you have him leaving the field before the Super Bowl was officially over. Of course you were disappointed. Who wouldn't be after going undefeated all season, and then losing the game that matters the most. You ran out shook hands, but failed to notice that your team, and the coaching staff weren't behind you. As a head coach you are supposed to set the example for your team. That is not the example that should be set by a team that is considered to be the model that every other franchise should strive to achieve!

Don't forget about the players. New England is hailed for their personnel. Rodney Harrison tested positive for a band substance. He is a defensive captain. Aren't captains supposed to be leaders in what they say, and what they do? Moving along there is Vincent Wilfork (Dirty Player). He has received a number of fines from the league for unnecessary conduct. The most recent events involved him grabbing Michael Turner by the face mask, and poking Brandon Jacobs in the eye. The eye gouge could not even be construed as accidental. Jacobs, and Wilfork were jawing with one another after a play, when he just shoved his fingers into Jacob's face mask. Richard Seymour was shown bumping into Philip Rivers after the play was dead during the AFC championship game. Perhaps River's exaggerated the bump by falling down, but there is no justifiable reason for contact after the play. Then just like every other team in the league they have the off the field player problems. Defensive Back Willie Andrews was arrested for Possession with the intent to distribute.

How does this behavior not reflect directly upon a team that is heralded for what they represent? For one reason or another people dismiss these issues, and still hold the team above all others.

Kudos to Randy Moss for making me a believer. You aren't a waste of athletic talent!
Wes Welker you can come and play for the Eagles any day.
Tom Brady I am sure you will get your 4th ring, but to comfort you until then, Your girlfriend is hot!
Sen. Arlen Specter, and the rest of his cronies. Stay the F*@%! out of sports. Let them handle there own dirty laundry.
